In-mold degating = Insert + Controller
OCTAGON automated in-mold degating solution provides clean parts-runners separation. Separation, or gate trimming, happens while the plastic is still soft, allowing for accurate and clean trimming.
How it works: In-mold degating system
Initialization
Switch sends signal to controller when cavity and core part of the mold are clamped.
Injection and holding
Timer on the controller is set according to injection setup - vary depending on part/product design and material type.
Cut and cool
Controller activates cutter during the holding period and retract near the end of cooling type - these parameters are set on the controller.

Inserts and supporting parts
Required parts are included as part of the in-mold degating solution. Supporting parts include cylinder, limit switch, retraction spring and cutter among others.
